Passive radon-resistant new construction (RRNC)
A passive RRNC system consists of a permeable aggregate layer beneath the slab, a sealed vapor barrier, a vertical vent pipe routed through conditioned space to above the roofline, and a labeled electrical junction box for future fan installation. If post-construction testing shows elevated levels, converting to an active system takes just an hour.
Active radon systems installed at rough-in
For premium builds we recommend installing an active system during construction. The homeowner takes possession of a home with a verified radon level below 2.0 pCi/L on day one, at roughly half the cost of a retrofit.
